MIRPUR: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the rights of the state’s people at a function hosted by the Forester and Forest Guard Association in the state metropolis.
Emphasizing his efforts to restore the region’s system, the prime minister stressed the importance of a robust check and balance system for sustainable growth.He condemned corruption and vowed to root out dishonesty and malfeasance.
PM Haq highlighted initiatives to improve governance and announced savings of 25% from the normal budget, which will be allocated for public welfare.He also addressed concerns over inflation and announced a Rs 10 billion endowment fund to alleviate poverty.
Additionally, he prioritized forest conservation and pledged support for forest employees, promising uniforms and necessary equipment.The event was attended by government ministers, secretaries, and state forest department officials.
Meanwhile, President Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that the main purpose of the establishment of the Azad Kashmir government was to highlight the Kashmir issue.
Speaking at a briefing session held under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell (JKLC), the AJK president hailed the establishment of Kashmir Policy Research Institute, the first ever AJK based think tank.
He congratulated the management of the research institute for the publication of research journal, arranging workshops and producing research materials on Kashmir.
“Under the given circumstances, the responsibilities of the AJK government have increased manifold,” said Barrister Sultan, adding it is heartening to see that the government and the JKLC have played an effective role in turning spotlight on Kashmir and sensitizing the world in a much better way.
The AJK president said he has always tried to convey the voice of Kashmiris to the world and keep the people of Azad Kashmir connected with the issue.
“India has no moral or legal justification to raise objections over the foreign diplomats’ visits to Azad Kashmir,” he said, adding that the envoys of different countries have visited the region (Azad Kashmir) before, and they will continue to do so in the future.
Terming Kashmir as an internationally recognised disputed territory, Barrister Chaudhry said that Kashmir has never been the part of India. He further advised India to refrain from its expansionist designs and realise the ground reality that it could no longer hold Kashmiris hostage by the dint of force.
The AJK president said that the political and human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) has further worsened since August 5, 2019. He urged the international community to take note of the fast deteriorating political and human rights situation in the region. “The international community should take notice of the crimes committed against Kashmiris by the Indian occupation forces.”
