ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engr Amir Muqam”s visit to Gilgit Baltistan, scheduled for April 24, was postponed due to unavoidable official engagements in Islamabad.
A new date would be announced soon, said a press release. This would be Engr Amir Muqam’s first visit to Gilgit Baltistan since assuming charge as Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan.
During visit, Federal Minister will meet Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Cabinet members, Chief Secretary and senior officials of Gilgit Baltistan government. The federal minister said that he will talk to the higher authorities about the problems of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Earlier, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Gulbar Khan called on Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan and States and Frontier Regions Engr Amir Muqam here in his office.Federal Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Rafique Jawad Malik and Inspector General Gilgit Baltistan Afzal Mahmood Butt were also present on the occasion, said a press release.
Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan congratulated Engr Amir Muqam on assuming charge as Federal Minister of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.Engr Amir Muqam thanked the Chief Minister and said that he will soon visit Gilgit-Baltistan to discuss issues with people.
The minister said that the problems of people of Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan would be resolved on priority.Engr Amir Muqam said that Gilgit-Baltistan will not have any problem of wheat shortage and federal government will ensure its smooth supply.
Similarly, Governor Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah called on Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan and States and Frontier Regions Engr Amir Muqam here in his office.He congratulated Engr Amir Muqam on assuming charge as Federal Minister of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, said a press release.
Engr Amir Muqam thanked Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and said that he will soon visit Gilgit-Baltistan.The minister said that the problems of people of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan would be resolved on priority.Engr Amir Muqam said that Gilgit-Baltistan will not have any problem of wheat shortage and its smooth supply will be ensured.
It is pertinent to mention that Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Engr Amir Muqam assumed additional charge of Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan.
Senior officials warmly welcomed Engr Amir Muqam on his arrival to Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan. Later, the Federal Minister chaired an introductory meeting attended by senior officials of the Ministry. Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Jawad Rafique Malik gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing projects of the Ministry and matters related to Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The senior officials of the Ministry also gave briefing on the status of subsidized wheat supply to Gilgit-Baltistan and the procedure of delivery.The Minister said that Gilgit-Baltistan should be ensured the supply of wheat according to the quota set by the federal government.
