KARACHI:The meteorological department has predicted the prevailing hot weather in Karachi to turn pleasant, partly cloudy and windy by Friday.
According to forecasts from the department’s Early Warning Centre, the influence of northwesterly winds in Balochistan will significantly decrease.
Following the heatwave subsiding, westerly winds are anticipated in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 36 degree Celsius.
Today, the minimum temperature recorded in the port city in the morning was 27 degrees Celsius, expected to hit a maximum of 40 degrees.
However, other regions of Sindh are likely to continue experiencing hot and dry weather in the days ahead.
As the mercury in the metropolis soared to 39.5 degrees Celsius two days back, the Met department issued warnings of a partial heatwave, attributing the rising temperatures to the absence of the usual cooling sea breeze from the Arabian Sea.
The PMD has reassured residents that the conditions are not likely to escalate into a full heatwave.
A full heatwave is defined as persisting temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius for more than four days, coupled with humidity levels surpassing 65 per cent.
