KARACHI:Senior provincial minister SharjeelMemon has said that the Sindh government is determined to ensure the safety of students abroad and a PIA chartered flight arranged by the Sindh government will arrive at Jinnah International Airport today, carrying Pakistani students from Kyrgyzstan.
He added that provisional minister Syed Nasir Shah will welcome the students at the airport.
“The government of Sindh prioritizes the welfare of its people at the national and international levels,” Sharjeel stated.Two days back, the first flight arranged by the provisional government carrying 205 students stranded in Kyrgyzstan landed at Karachi airport.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that “205 students have returned home. The remaining 180 will soon be brought back,” He added that out of the remaining students, six are injured but in stable condition.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on May 22 announced that over 3,000 Pakistani students have escaped Kyrgyzstan after the May 18 attacks, with numbers expected to surpass 4,000.
Addressing the media following his recent visit to the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek, Dar explained that he spoke with the officials in the Central Asian country about the recent mob attacks on international students, including Pakistanis.
