GILGIT: A meeting of the Divisional Directors was held at the Directorate of Narcotics Control, Gilgit Baltistan (GB) under the chairmanship of Director Narcotics Control Syed Yasser Hussain to discuss the prevention of narcotics in the region.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Diamer Astor Division Transport Mazam Ali Ahmed, Deputy Director Excise and Taxation Gilgit Division Mir Intikhab-ul-Haq, Excise and Taxation Officer Nagar/Admin Abid Razaq, Superintendent Excise Ubaidullah, and others.
During the meeting, Syed Yasser Hussain, said that the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan had issued orders regarding the prevention of narcotics during his recent visit to Baltistan.In addition, clear instructions were also issued at a conference held in the Ministry of Narcotics in Islamabad to eradicate narcotics.
In light of this, seminars and awareness rallies will be organized in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan to eradicate narcotics and raise awareness about its harmful effects. Moreover, Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Force will set up checkpoints on the central highways of all districts to check vehicles for narcotics.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Engineer Amir Maqam here chaired the meeting regarding Azad Jammu Kashmir state properties.
Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Syed Khalid Gurdizi, Joint Secretary Muhammad Hamid Khan and Administrator Jammu and Kashmir State Properties attended the meeting, said a press release.
The minister directed the officers concerned to prepare a feasible and comprehensive plan for maximum utilization of the properties of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He stressed the need for comprehensive strategies to ensure the protection of these assets and their effective utilization in the interest of these areas and its people and added that the rent of all properties should be re-evaluated.
Amir Muqam directed the administrator to make a comprehensive plan in consultation with the Secretary of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.Earlier, the administrator informed the meeting about the steps taken on the instructions of the federal minister in this regard.
Engineer Amir Muqam strongly condemned the attack by Afghan nationals on the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.”The desecration of the Pakistani flag by extremists is intolerable. The German government must take action against these extremists,” said the minister.
He said that the Afghan government should take legal action against its extremist citizens involved in this incident.He said that after this incident, we will review our policy regarding Afghan migrants.
