According to a media report, Governor of the region Syed Mehdi Shah during his meeting with a delegation of Awami Action Committee (AAC) Baltistan region has said that Prime Minister of Pakistan during his visit to Skardu would make announcements regarding the resolution of load-shedding issue in Skardu. As per report, Governor of the region further said that Government of the area has submitted specific recommendations to the Prime Minister, so that the load-shedding issue could be addressed. According to report, delegation of the AAC has urged the Governor of the area to resolve the concerns of the people and holding of event of jeep rally at Surfarangah is an important event to boost-up the tourism sector in the region. According to media report, delegation of AAC has also urged for the completion of power projectsand expressed its reservations regarding non-holding of tender process of Shagarthnag-Astore road project. Earlier, it was claimed by the portfolio holders of the regional government that federal government had assented to provide 20 megawatts solar power project for Gilgit and 20 megawatts solar power project for Skardu to reduce the load-shedding during in the winter season.

Gilgit-Baltistan was being considered as water hub of the country and by utilizing the water courses of the region, thousands of megawatts of cheap electricity could be generated, but due to meager recourses, government of the area could not install the power houses at run of river and power house were being constructed on small water streams. Due to ever growing requirement of the electivity in the region and shrink-down of the small water streams in the winter season, required electricity to meet the demand of the consumers could not be generated due to which consumers of the major cities of the area have to face hours long load-shedding. Now according to a med report, Governor of the region Syed Mehdi Shah during his meeting with a delegation of AAC Baltistan region has said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Main Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to Skardu would make announcements regarding the resolution of load-shedding issue of Skardu, where-as government of the area had already submitted specific recommendations to the Prime Minister in order to overcome the load-shedding issue, which is indeed good news for the people of Baltistanregion. It may be pertinent to mention here that government of the area had earlier claimed that federal government had consented to provide 20 megawatts each solar power project for Gilgit and Skardu and it was not clear whether the Prime Minister would announce the 20 megawatts solar power project for Skardu or any other mega project would be announced by the Prime Minister. It may be essential to point out here that measures to over-come the load-shedding issue during the winter season has to be taken much in advance, otherwise, people of the area would face the usual  electricity load-shedding in the winter season. We may expect that government of the area would not wait for the visit of Prime Minister and would do its best endeavor to minimize the electricity load-shedding during the winter season by utilizing available resources
