Pakistan People Party (PPP) regional chapter President/Member Assembly AmjadHussain Advocate while talking to this “media group” has said that it was premature to predict anything about the formation of coalition government in the region after the next general elections polls of the area. He further said that it was required to wait till the month of December 2025 about the next government formation in the region as the present government of the area led by Chief Minister Gulbar Khan may not face any issueduring the current year. Member Assembly further said that federal government had ordered to reduce the electricity load-shedding in the region through thermal generation and how the government of the region could refute the directives of the federal government in this regard. PPP regional chapter president said that electricity would be provided to the consumers up-to six hours on daily basis to those consumers who were facing load-shedding and expenditures incurred on account of thermal generation would be bear-out by the federal and regional government respectively. Earlier, Governor of the region Syed Mehdi Shah had said that next government of the region would be comprises of coalition parties as no single party would secure the majority during the next polls of the area.
Tenure of the incumbent Assembly of the region would complete during the month of November 2025 and thereafter, an interim government would be installed in the region according to the provision of Article 48-A of the “Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Order-2018”and interim government would facilitate the Election Commission of the area to conduct the next general elections of the region with-in the period of 60 days. It may be pertinent to mention here that if the interim government of the area would be installed in the month of December 2025, it would complete its 60 days tenure in the month of February 2026 and it may not be possible to conduct the polls of the region during the month of February 2026 due to climatic condition of the region and in order to avoid the unnecessary delay in the polls of the region, proposals were flouted that political parties that Assembly of the region may be dissolved in the month of June 2025 after the passage of next fiscal year budget and polls of the area be held in the month of October/November 2025. It may be imperative to mention here that Governor of the region Syed Mehdi Shah had said that PPP, PML-N, PTI and other political parties would make their efforts to secure more seats in the regional Assembly, but no political party would secure the majority and there would be coalition government in the region. Now the PPP regional chapter President AmjadHussain has said that it would be premature to predict or comment anything about the next government of the area as it would be decide in the month of December 2025 that which party would constitute the next government in the region and incumbent coalition government of the region led by Chief Minister Gulbar Khan may not face any issue/ challenge during the current year. As regards with the provision of electricity to the consumers through diesel generators, it was decided by the federal government to provide 5-6 hours electricity on daily basis to the consumers in Gilgit, Hunza and Skardu and other cities, which was appreciable decision of the federal government, but it was not the long-term solution of the matter and government of the region was required to complete the power projects and installation of solar power plant announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to the region during the month of November 2025, so that the load-shedding issue of the region could be resolved. We may expect that all political parties of the region would decide about the holding of next general elections of the region keeping in view of all attending circumstances besides playing their role to resolve the electricity shortage issue of the region especially during the winter season…
