Crackdown on drug compliance: Gilgit region ensures quality control

GILGIT: Under the directive of Chief Inspector of Drugs/Secretary Quality Control Drugs, Mr. Ubaid Khan, the Drug Inspector of Gilgit Region conducted thorough inspections of medical stores and hospitals in the vicinity of Chamogarh, Jalalabad, and Oshkundis. The primary focus was on ensuring the presence of qualified personnel and adherence to the Drug Act.

Various instructions and warnings were issued during the inspections, emphasizing the seizure of non-compliant drugs, sampling for testing and analysis, and the verification of product warranties. Additionally, stringent directives were given for the clear display of name boards, in accordance with the Drug Act 1976, DRAP Act 2012, and subsequent Gilgit-Baltistan Rules.

During the inspections near Gilgit city, medical store owners and qualified personnel were instructed not to engage in the sale of medicines without valid warranty bills from the respective firms. Stringent actions will be taken against offenders, reflecting a zero-tolerance policy towards compromising public health and safety.

Speaking to the media, Drug Inspector Gilgit, Dr. Muhammad Sharif, underscored the importance of preserving human life, reiterating the commitment to maintaining uncompromising standards in medicine quality and service delivery to the public.
