Imran Khan’s imprisonment: One year in Adiala Jail by the numbers

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has completed one year of imprisonment in Adiala Jail.

Here is a lstatistical overview of the time according to details obtained by Express News.Imran Khan faced more than 180 jail trial hearings during his 365 days in Adiala Jail. He also met with PTI leaders and his legal team over 100 times throughout the year.

During this period, Imran spent approximately 1,000 hours attending court hearings. In addition, he endured 90 days in solitary confinement but remained in good health, except for a minor complaint of toothache.

Throughout his one-year imprisonment, Imran Khan participated in over 180 media discussions and appeared before e-courts three times. Jail sources confirm that Imran Khan was convicted in three cases during this time.

However, in the 365 days, Imran Khan was no allowed a private meeting with his wife, Bushra Bibi, even once.In a response to allegations of keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement, government submitted a response to the Supreme Court. The government included photographs of Imran Khan meeting with his legal team in prison.

To support its stance, the government also provided a list of individuals who have met with Khan.Imran Khan has been acquitted or granted bail in many cases, but he still remains behind bars over a number of cases, most notably the ÂŁ190m case.

Imran and Bushra are also expected to be indicted in the Toshakhana-II case on October 2.Islamabad Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand resumed hearing the case in a courtroom inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where both Imran and Bushra are currently detained.
